Despite the fact that our periodical specializes on large outdoor LED video screens, we try not to miss and to inform you with every interesting development and new technology that is related to the use of semiconductor materials and to the screens. Especially because the discussion in this article will deal with one of the most interesting directions in this field - development and production of screens based on OLED. Despite the fact that this technology is in its initial stage of development, it has great potential and a lot of specialists consider it as truly fantastic.

Organic Light Emitting Diode technology enables full color, full-motion flat panel displays with a level of brightness and sharpness not possible with other technologies. Unlike traditional LCD’s, OLED’s are self-luminous and do not require backlighting, diffusers, polarizers or any of the other baggage that goes with liquid crystal displays. Essentially, the OLED consists of two charged electrodes sandwiched on top of some organic light emitting material.

This eliminates the need for bulky and environmentally undesirable mercury lamps and yields a thinner, more versatile and more compact display. Their low power consumption provides for maximum efficiency and helps minimize heat and electric interference in electronic devices. Armed with this combination of features, OLED displays communicate more information in a more engaging way while adding less weight and taking up less space.

According to results of research of Chinese scientists organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) not only make it possible to make screens more miniature, but, moreover, they make it possible to create plastic monitors. By that OLED can initiate the entire revolution at the LED screens market and make changes in digital world which surrounds us.

The IT profession is in the process of a revolution, but the public has not realized this fact still. From Bavaria in Germany to Massachusetts in America, the developing of the situation in this sphere enables to improve each computer user's working conditions. The appearance of organic light emitter diode (OLED) technology is the future of demonstration technologies.

Specialists dealing with these technologies have found out that image and text quality on organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) screens will in long-term outlook lead to the situation when the monitors existing at present become inferior to them. Brightness, contrast and clearness of image of these OLED screens will update to the new quality level. Monitors with the usage of organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) will be capable to transfer image much faster, their viewing angle will increase up to 180°, speed of their renovation of image will become 100-1000 times higher than of liquid-crystal displays. Besides fundamental improvement of image quality, this new technology is also interesting because people will rapidly get used to it. With this technology consumption of electric power decreases, weight of a monitor reduces, its assurance factor grows, and all these will have unquestionable advantages especially for handheld models of monitors.

Besides, since bending plastic also can be used as basis for a matrix, outlines of OLED screen will have no limitations, and it will be possible to give any form to them, to place them on surface of different objects at one's own choosing. Since some new materials will be used as basis for a matrix, OLED screens can be considerably thinner than contemporary hyperfine liquid-crystal displays.
